Our second speaker introduction is one of my closest friends in the wedding industry, Nancy Liu Chin of Nancy Liu Chin Designs.
Nancy is one of the most sought after floral designer in Northern California. A wedding created by Nancy Liu Chin Designs (NLCD) is a blend of modern chic, updated elegance and whimsical details. It reflects her personal belief that weddings echo a couple's personality, style and modern sensibilities. She brings to floral design a much needed, refreshing sense of style and sophistication. Her signature creations embody a flirty, yet refined charm bursting with luxurious colors and breathtaking beauty. Nancy's distinctive arrangements are unmatched, with unique and personal touches that truly speak for themselves. She helps her clients translate their vision into reality, whether it's an intimate garden wedding for 20 or an opulent modern affair for 200. NLCD’s floral work has been featured in countless publications including Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, Sunset Magazine, Elegant Bride, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, and Here Comes The Guide.
Earlier this year, Nancy participated in our inaugural Wedding University at the Four Seasons Silicon Valley. Along with her Design Team, she created four beautiful, distinctive design showcases for our brides and grooms to drool over. As one of our design professors, she taught engaged couples the ins and outs of picking a floral designer, and touched upon a variety of topics that were important to couples planning their wedding. She is all about sharing, and educating, and has been an ongoing cheerleader for Jean and I as we launched Wedding 360!
At the Academy for Planners + Designers, Nancy will be designing a tablescape inspired by LV, Design Within Reach, and bubble bowls for our design showcase at The St. Regis San Francisco. She will then be a part of our design panel, which will give her the opportunity to explain her design--from conceptualization to the mechanics of the production process. She will also discuss a variety of other topics on this panel, from trends to the business of being a floral designer. She recently wrote an article for Weddingbeepro, which sheds excellent insight into the floral business! Nancy is known to be brutally honest, but with an optimistic outlook, and we all love her for that!

I'm so in love with all those beautiful mood boards that Gloria Wong has created for The Wedding University. So far, you've seen The Lodge, and The Penthouse. Today, you will get to see The Gallery!
From Gloria:
The Gallery has a "Modern Crafty" sensibility. It was developed for an urban dwelling couple who likes simple clean lines, frequents local art exhibits, watches indie films, and shops at American Apparel. The bride is a graphic artist and credits her favorite childhood toy, a spirograph art set, as the reason she became interested in the world of graphics. The playful repetition of lines and shapes is the foundation for which the design concept was built. For The Gallery vignette, we will showcase trendy colors, crafty paper goods, bold fonts, geometric graphics, minimalist floral arrangements, modern rentals, sculptural hanging elements, and fun tablescape props that complement the wonders of a simple spirograph!

Last week, we posted a mood board by Gloria Wong Tritasavit of Gloria Wong Design, as a sneak preview to one of the design rooms that she is working on with Nancy Liu Chin at The Wedding University. We are excited to post a second mood board this week, name The Penthouse, as another sneak preview!
From Gloria:
The Penthouse has a "Classic Luxe" sensibility. It was created for a more posh but not uptight couple who likes traditional silhouettes, attends the opera, reads Town & Country, and shops at Gumps. Both the bride and the groom are attorneys and love spending their evenings reading in front of the fireplace munching on dessert with their favorite licquer. The couple's classic style, sophisticated taste, and favorite pastime is the basis for the design concept. The Penthouse vignette will feature elegantly mild colors with rich accents, premium paper products, formal fonts, tasteful graphics inspired by the moulding in the couple's chic Park Avenue apartment, lush floral arrangements, luxurious rentals, ritzy hanging elements, and delightful tablescape props such as vintage books and pastries!

Our awesome design team for TWU is working to surpass everyone's expectations for our January 31st event!
Gloria Wong Tritasavit of Gloria Wong Design just sent me this mood board that she created for one of the design rooms she is working on with Nancy Liu Chin and Hartmann Studios. It's definitely got a very lodge-like feel to it...a bit rustic and organic. Jean and I visited them at Nancy's studio as they were conceptualizing, and we can't wait to see all the beautiful elements pulled together at The Wedding University!
